USS Nightmare Opens on Riverfest Day!

Newport, KY, August 2014 – It’s back. It’s haunted. And it’s open on Riverfest Day. The mangled, massive steamboat sitting along the Newport waterfront seems eerily out of place. But for Halloween enthusiasts, the return of the USS Nightmare signifies that fall is quickly approaching and the haunting season is imminent. As season 23 draws near, the USS Nightmare crewmembers are putting the final touches on this year’s show and are restlessly waiting to welcome “visitors” beginning with a special showing on Riverfest Day, Sunday, August 31. Built on an authentic wrecked steamboat, the USS Nightmare is annually one of the scariest and highest rated attractions in the Greater Cincinnati area making it the area’s best Halloween entertainment.

Come aboard, if you dare, and be among the first to experience this year’s tour which exposes the wicked past of the historic Death Dredge. On Riverfest Day, experience the show for a discounted ticket price of just $10 per person. (For even bigger savings, purchase online before Riverfest Day for just $8.) Ticket sales will begin at 3:30 p.m., and the show will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. Then, make your way back to your spot for the viewing of the spectacular fireworks display marking the unofficial end of summer.

Scaredown Moves For 2015!

Scaredown in Waynesville, Ohio will not be open for the 2014 haunt season because they're in the process of moving to a new location for 2015. Below is the press release from the creator/director Josh Hasty.

Dear fellow freaks and fiends,

It is with great joy that I bring you the biggest news of our existence thus far. SCAREDOWN Haunted Attractions is moving to a bigger and better location! While the farm will always have a special place in our cold hearts, the time has come for us to move up and move on. Over the last two years, we have taken off faster than we could've ever planned. Thanks to our AMAZING fans and partners, we have become a place that many people consider their prime destination for not only fear, but for the all encompassing experience of Halloween, which we strive so fiercely to deliver each night.

Due to this humbling accomplishment, some new and exciting opportunities have been brought to the table. As these new opportunities presented themselves, I was faced with a very big set of decisions. Rather than focus on where SCAREDOWN has been the last 2 years, I am setting my sights on where I want to take it for the next 20 years, and with this the decisions were obvious. So once again, my insanely amazing team rallied together and we started our move. Our entire main attraction, Hellbilly Workshop (the barn) is coming with us. Obviously we will be leaving Devil House behind, but I can assure you, no one will be sorry about what's replacing it. Or what will be complimenting it.

Unfortunately, due to the timing of these events, which are out of our control, SCAREDOWN will not be open to the public for the 2014 season. But don't cry! We will still be very much alive and in your face all season long. Our marketing team has been putting together a list of special events and contests that will be guaranteed to make you soil yourselves, in true SCAREDOWN fashion. On behalf of everyone in the family, I want to thank you for your continuing support. I hope you will join us in seeing this season off as an investment in all of the many exciting seasons to come. In place of a 2014 trailer, please enjoy our short film - THIS EVIL HAS GROWN. And stay tuned as more details surface soon! May God help you in 2015.
